ALR Meeting Minutes - October 26, 2009

Old Business:
No new applications
Roy mentioned the work day we had on 10/24, the Auxiliary room, and the Military Moms closet.

Financial report read by Roy – motion to accept by Stan, seconded by Ed Titsworth.
New Business:

•Lonnie brought up elections and asked for the a nominating committee. Mike suggested if the current officers would be willing to serve another year, we should just vote on that slate of officers. Bob J made a motion that we vote on the current officers at the November meeting.
•Friday Nov 30, we will have a welcome home at 5:00.
•POW-MIA appreciation dinner Oct 30 at 7 pm.
•Post Home Halloween party on Oct 31 at 7
•Tear down of Halloween decorations at 2:00pm Nov 1.
•Thanksgiving Day Dinner 11-2? at Post 286 – donation asked for by Auxiliary at Post 286. Motion by Stan to donate $150, seconded by Ed M.
•Lonnie brought up Randy Crockett’s accident. Debbie mentioned that he was doing better, but Mike and others said that he was not out of the woods. Bob J made a motion that we donate $200 from the fallen brothers fund, seconded by Richard Charles.
•Lonnie mentioned that he had gotten a call from Dan Curtis, asking for an escort the Nov. Honor Flight bus to Ellsworth on Nov. 4. Stage at 0600 hrs at the RC&D office, 16th and Kansas , KSU at 0630.
•Lonnie mentioned Veterans Day Nov 11 – Stage at 1015, KSU at 1045. Will do call tree.
•Welcome Home or PFC Adam Watkins, who will be hoe for one day and then will ship out for Afganistan, stage at 1530 hrs, KSU at 1600 hrs.
•Fall Garage Sale – we have a house full of furniture at St. John that we can have. Lonnie urged that we have one on December at the post, and split the funds between the Fallen Brothers fund and the ALR general fund. Mike motioned that we have the garage sale at the post, seconded by Rose. Lonnie aske dif we can go down on Nov., 28-29 to pick up the furniture. Will have to bring merchandise up to the Post on Friday evening.
•Annual Fundraiser dance will be April 10, we will have the Marlboro Band.
•Lonnie mentioned the SAL Chili Challenge on 8 Nov. from 4-7 PM.
•The Great Bend Workforce center will have Veterans Appreciation at Nov 10 10:30 to 3.
•Chris reported on the National ALR Romp committee meeting at McPherson, and urged anyone that wants to help to volunteer. We want to show the country that Kansas can do an event like this right. Attendance at the 2009 Romp was 150 people, which was less than our state rally.
