6 May - Post Cleaning 1 pm


18-20 May Department Convention - Highland Hotel - Social Hour Friday evening at the Post. Snacks and drink specials!  Convention convenes at 0800 Sat 19 May at the Highland Hotel.


20 May - Run for the Wall Support - set up flags at Bunker Hill. Stage at Eagles at 1230 hrs and KSU for Bunker Hill at 1300.  ETA for the RFTW Riders is 1415, which should allow 30 minutes for flag setup.


25 May - POW-MIA Ceremony planning meeting.  This year’s ceremony will take place in conjunction with the air show at the Great Bend Airport this year.


26-27 May - Poppy Drive at several area businesses. Contact Norma, Marianne, or Brenda for more information.


28 May - Memorial Day activities - Stage at Eagles at 0900 hrs.


NOTICE - No ALR Meeting in May, since it falls on Memorial Day.


2 June - Ride in support of the June Jaunt - Stage at 0830 at Eagles, KSU for Historical Society at 0900.


2 June - Relay for Life Poker Run sponsored by Kansas Sidewinders. Details TBA.


3 June - Veterans for Life Poker Run and visit to Dodge City Soldier’s Home - Stage at Eagles at 0700 hrs, KSU at 0730.  Registration at Dighton City Park from 0900 to 1000, Poker Run starts at 1000.  Route is: Scott City Park -> Garden City truck stop -> Dodge City HD  We will all leave Dodge City HD at the same time. Final card is at Ft. Dodge Soldier’s Home.  $5.00 per hand plus at least one of the following:

    -Wal-Mart gift cards, Antibacterial hand soap (individual)  

    -Men’s underwear - white cotton L and XL,

    -Socks, gripper socks,T-shirts

    -Or anything that a retired veteran may be in need of.

All Motorcycles and Riders Welcome - 50/50 pot  50% of proceeds go to Soldier’s Home

Freewill donation hamburger feed cooked by Veterans at Ft. Dodge after the ride

8 June - The ALR will again help open the 2012 Barton County Relay for Life. Riders will stage at Eagles at 5:30 pm, with KSU for the Courthouse around 6:00 pm.  Bring flags and poles if your bike is equipped.  We will also mount flags on the poles around the courthouse earlier in the day.


8 June - Events Committee Meeting - 7:30 pm


9 June - Chase Festival Parade.  Stage at Eagles at 0800, KSU for Chase at 0830. Parade lineup begins at 0900, parade starts at 1000.


15-17 June - National ALR Rally - Hays - Agenda:

Thursday June 14th
- Registration: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion
- Kitchen will be open from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
- Tickets on sale for the 50/50 pot and prizes for Saturday night’s drawings

Friday June 15th
- Registration: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the American Legion
- RIDES – All rides will be limited to 100 people per group
- The Motorcycle Museum Ride, Marquette Kansas - Stage at the American Legion, leaving at 9:00 a.m. and returning at 3:00 p.m. There will be a fuel stop and the Café will be open.
- Church Ride and Veteran's Cemetery Ride - Stage at the American Legion, leaving at 9:00 a.m. and returning at 3:00 p.m.
- 50/50 and prize tickets for Saturday night’s drawings will be sold from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- FRIDAY NIGHT DANCE – Sponsored by Doerfler’s Harley Davidson - Sly Ridge will be playing 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at the American Legion Ballroom. Admission will be $5.00 per person.

Saturday June 16th
- Registration: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the American Legion
- RIDES – All rides will be limited to 100 people per group
- Greg "Ebay" Hansen Memorial Ride - Stage at the American Legion, leaving at 9:00 a.m. to Lucas/ K-18. Café will be open, stop at Garden of Eden, and then back over Wilson Lake Dam.
- Parade stages at 3:00 p.m. and starts at 4:00 p.m. Parade route starts at Doerfler’s Harley Davidson in Hays, Kansas and ends at the American Legion.
- Saturday night’s meal at the American Legion begins at 5:00 p.m. and serving stops at 7:00 p.m. Meal will be buffet style with pulled pork, baked beans, and potato salad. Ronnie and the Rockets will be playing from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Dance and meal are free to all who registered.
- 50/50 and prize tickets will be drawn at 10:00 p.m.

Sunday June 17th
- All you can eat breakfast at the American Legion from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. $7.00 per person includes eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, hash browns and toast.
- Church Service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.


30 Jun - Allied Memorial Remembrance Ride - Riders from across the United Kingdom, United States  and Canada are invited to attend the fourth Allied Memorial Remembrance Ride creating one ride in three Nations, its riders united in remembrance of our fallen heroes from the allied forces, past and present, who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The UK ride will take place in Cambridge, with a short service being held at the American War Cemetery in Madingley, Cambs. US rides take place in Oklahoma; one to the  RAF Memorial at the IOF Cemetery in Ponca City and the other to the RAF Memorial at the GAR Cemetery in Miami, in Texas, and in New Hampshire. The Canadian ride will take place in Ottawa.  Details for GB riders are TBA, more info can be found at www.alliedride.org.


4 Aug - Hudson 125th Anniversary Parade - Stage at 0800, KSU at 0830 to arrive at 0900. Parade begins at 1000.


20-26 Aug - The American Legion Legacy Run Home, The Commander's Ride and The American Legion Riders Expo 2012!  Registration for the 2012 American Legion Legacy Run Home has now opened on www.legion.org.   The "Legacy Run Home" will cover three events over six days:  a three-day Commander's Ride, the American Legion Riders Expo upon arrival in Indianapolis, and The American Legion National Convention Parade.   Expo registration is free to all Commander’s Ride participants. Parade participation is free for all American Legion Riders.  Riders who choose not to participate in the Commander's Ride but wish to attend the American Legion Rider Expo may register separately.  REGISTER ONLINE HERE 10 riders from Post 180 are planning to attend all or part of the run and/or Expo.
